Remuneration: Those who will complete their Internship with absolute sincerity, honesty and exhibit adequate professionalism, will be awarded Internship Certificate.
Those who will perform par excellence and prove themselves extraordinary, during their internship period, will be issued a "Letter of Appreciation" from the Director General.

We seek interns with diverse backgrounds and who are passionate about the environment to help us to make a direct global impacts. Our internships provide a learning experience for our interns who also contribute to our various ongoing routine works or projects as per their interest and skill sets. For which we have an interns hiring policy throughout the year.
This internship exposure equips these young people in developing enough self-confidence, courage and unique leadership quality which ultimately helps them to come out as successful professionals. While anyone interning with us, she or he has also enough opportunities to learn more about our professional work, work culture and get sufficient exposure to peruse always a great career of their choice to achieve their future objectives, materializing their ambition.
Foriegn interns, those who are keen to work on India's Social, Environmental or Business related issues, Natural Resources Management, Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, UN SDGs, International Co-operation, Bilateral Foriegn relations and Multilateralism or any of the topics listed in Focus Areas or Campaigns in IISD Website, for working either in the field or in the desk at the office, are invited, welcome and encouraged to apply with us.
Interns are offered one of the assignments among areas listed below.
EDITORIAL AND CONTENT DEVELOPMENT
Our interns help our Program, Editorial and Communication team to write/edit/proof-check articles and blogs. They also chip in for research, graphics designing, content development and fact-checking.
Our interns are tasked with key outreach activities such as media engagements, drafting press material, identifying opportunities to engage with stakeholders, creating out of the box social media campaigns, working on newsletters and other communication and interfacing with important stakeholders.
We host multiple events that bring together experts, scholars, opinion leaders, national and foreign dignitaries for debate and dialogue. These high profile events require extensive planning; our interns help with their execution at multiple levels.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
Interns those who are interest in branding, image building, business development, fund rising, reporting and public relations, are tasked similar short assignments.
We consider those who are pursuing a Masters / Bachelor’s Degree in Science / Engineering / Commerce / Public Policy / Political Science / Economics / History / Law / Journalism and Communication. We expect our interns to be resourceful, have excellent organizational, communication and people skills and be self-starters who can work independently.
Strong Microsoft Office Skills, Computer Graphics, Knowledge of Designing Software and Mobile Apps etc would be a plus. In addition, Candidates having experience of handling analytical tools such as SPSS, Econometrics, and statistical tools and the knowledge of mathematical modelling will also be preferred for some assignments, which need some specific technical support. Moreover, knowledge and experience of video recording, editing in Photoshop, Flex and Banner making will be an added advantage.

Broad areas in which, interns engagement is sought, are - Administration, HR, Finance, IT, Content Writing having rich presentation skill, Report Writing, Documentation, Event Management, Field Visit, Primary and Secondary Surveys, Monitoring & Evaluation, Photography, Architect & Engineering, Community Work, Emergency Response, Technology, Media Engagement & Public Relations and Translation from Hindi to English and from English to Hindi or from any regional Indian Language (you can specify) to English and from English to concern language.
Interns those who are interest in active leadership role in UNEP supported IISD's Trillion Tree Plantation program along with other Campaigns are always encouraged.

All the intern positions with us, are normally "Full Time" in nature, However on exceptional situation, few "Part Time" position may be made available for extra ordinary candidates.
Few Paid Internships are available. Those who are applying for a Paid Internship or Internship with Stipend, have to compete with others, be selected on merit basis and deliver the work, as per IISD's priority, in a time bound manner. This is not applicable to any student of any Educational Institute, College, or University. Only credible freelance professional of a specialized field can apply for this.
I worked as a Research Intern at IISD-CMI on a Project, titled "The Prospects and Consequences of having REDD+ in India, Carrying out a Sample Case Study of Uttarakhand Forest Division" for my Master Thesis from FRI University, Dehradun. The study involved the analysis of legal framework for forest management in India, with data inputs from MoEF&CC, ICFRE, IGNFA, FSI and FRI involved in REDD+, and with the GIS Analysis of Forest Cover of Uttarakhand.

I joined IISD-CMI as an Intern to do my final year Dissertation for the Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering (2004-08) from Delhi College of Engineering, under Delhi University, from November, 2007 to April, 2008, where I worked on Carbon or (GHG Emission related Carbon Credits) as a Compliance Commodity, to be traded in Indian Commodity Market Platforms and Facilitation of appropriate Regulations for building sustainable emission trading markets in India. In addition I also worked Other CDM Projects related Biomass Energy and Energy Efficiency Sector, which was in fact best learning experience, with first rich professional exposure for me.

I as a Master of Environmental Economics Student from Madras School of Economics, Joined as an Intern to do my Dissertation with IISD-CMI on "Natural Resources Accounting and Green GDP" in 2015-16, after doing my Bachelor in Economics from Indraprastha College for Women, Delhi and then as a Research Associate, I worked to review the adaptation and mitigation policy measures from the global and national perspective, prepared a Guideline document for Indian Industries to report and submit their GHG Emission Reductions, as per NDC targets.

I Joined as a Research Intern with IISD-CMI in April-July 2012 and worked on "State Of Technology Transfer in India, in Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), under Kyoto Protocol of UNFCCC", for my M. Tech in Energy Systems Thesis, being a Final Year Student from the University Of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun.
It was a great experience, in doing this research assignment, involving a lot of data analytics, with interpretation skills, which I learned during my internship with IISD-CMI.
