Dr. Krishna Raj

Dr. Krishna Raj is a Visiting Sr. Research Fellow (Environmental Economics & Sustainable Development) at IISD, He is also a a Professor at the Centre for Economic Studies and Policy, Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore, with over 26 years of experience as a researcher, teacher, and policy advisor. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Mysore, with expertise in environmental economics, inclusive growth, natural resource management, and sustainable development. His recent research covers topics such as traffic congestion in Bengaluru, urban air pollution, biodiversity conservation, and water supply management in cities like New York and Bangalore.

Previously, he served as the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Chair Professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in South Korea and has been a visiting scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, USA. Dr. Krishna Raj has collaborated with institutions like the University of Guelph, Canada, and received the Sir Ratan Tata Trust Research Fellowship.

He has been a member of expert committees for the Government of Karnataka, contributing to reports on asset monetization, higher education policies, and environmental damage assessments. He is currently working with the Asian Development Bank on river basin planning and serves on various environmental and policy committees. Dr. Krishna Raj has published seven books, 29 research papers, and numerous articles in national media. His recent publications include works on traffic congestion and social justice. He has supervised 10 Ph.D. scholars and continues to Shape Policy and Academic discourse in Environmental Economics and Sustainable Development .
