Dr. Kamalpreet Kaur

Dr. Kamalpreet Kaur is a Visiting Research Fellow (Corporate Sustainability, Environmental Management and Climate Change) at IISD-CMI. Dr. Kaur has research and academic expertise in environmental management and sustainability. She has earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from Panjab University, Chandigarh and at present is based in Toronto, Canada. Her research work focused on assessing the environmental impacts of unscientific disposal of solid waste on aquifers, crops, and occupational health. She was awarded the ‘Young Scientist Award’ by the Punjab Science Academy in recognition of her research work. Some of the key positions held by her include Principal Scientist - Climate Change adaptation in the state of Punjab and Assistant Professor - Environmental Sciences in Chandigarh University. Her work has been published in various peer-reviewed journals and in addition, she has presented her work at several national and international conferences. After moving to the United States, she studied the International Environmental Policy program with a specialization in Corporate Sustainability from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, Monterey, California, where she also worked on a research project ‘Environmental and Economic Evaluation of Deep Sea Mining’. While living in the States, she volunteered with various organizations and institutions in the USA, including University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Kaur recently had been working on a Biochar project as part of her study program in collaboration with the Institute of Carbon Removal Law and Policy, American University, USA. Dr. Kamalpreet Kaur is with our ongoing Research and Consultancy Projects of IISD, relating to Environment Policy Formulation, Municipal Solid Waste Management, Water Quality Analysis and Pollution Studies, CSR, Corporate Business and Environmental Sustainability, Research Studies on Implications of Crop Residue Burning, Climate Change Adaptation and Corporate Project Management.
