Ms Preeti Chauhan, is a Visiting Research Fellow (Circular Economy) at IISD; is a social
development entrepreneur by profession, civil engineer with a PG Diploma in Sustainable Environment Management
by qualification, an environmentalist at heart and a zero waste practitioner by passion.
Her journey from being
corporate employee to being social entrepreneur in Ladakh, India,
has been an amalgamation of adventure with self-reflection and awakening.
She worked in companies such as Louis Berger (now WSP) and IL&FS Infrastructure Pvt Ltd before moving to Ladakh.
She is a Research Partner with Dr Katie Conlon on a National Geographic Project "What Goes up Must Come Down:
Himalayan Upstream plastic waste solutions that minimize downstream Marine inputs."
Preeti worked closely with various stakeholders of Ladakh and understood the problem to its depth; as a Naropa Fellow. Recently, Her social enterprise, Little Green World (LGW) is devoted towards issues of, unethical tourism, sustainable practices and reducing the waste piles on the mountains and also LGW holds a vision of enabling each individual to become a conservationist and a zero-waste practitioner. She has been able to work on following projects:
Preeti has joined IISD's Sustainable Tourism Campaign team of Ladakh and is leading Circular Economy initiatives of the Campaign.
