Dr Ashutosh Mohanty

Dr. Ashutosh Mohanty is the Visiting Research Fellow on Climate Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction (CRDRR) at IISD. He is the recipient of National Geographic Explorer Grant, to do a project on Zero Waste Management across over two dozen sites in India, Bhutan, & Nepal. In addition He has worked with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and was also a Coordinator of Himalayan University Consortium (HUC) under ICIMOD, Kathmandu, Nepal. Moreover, he has led a Socio-economic impact study of Super Cyclone 99 of eastern coast of India, particularly Odisha with respect to the Early Warning System (2003-2005) with National Center for Atmospheric Research, USA and Human and Institutional Capacity Development of Afghan Universities, HCD-AU (2008-2012), ICIMOD, Nepal with IDRC, Canada. He leads number of Applied Projects in Nepal, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, USA, Afghanistan, India, China and Bhutan. He is a Steering Committee & Advisory Member of Kabul University Environment Protection and Disaster Management Department. He also worked for Climate Smart Agriculture and Dry-land agriculture in drought prone areas of Highland Himalayan regions of India, Nepal, China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bhutan Myanmar and Bangladesh and Tran-boundary River Basin Programme (TWIN, USA).

Dr Mohanty is engaged now with IISD, in putting forward a process into place, for running an Online PG Diploma Certificate Course on Climate Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction, in addition to publication of the International Journal, titled "International Journal Of Sustainability".
